Primary Role
The mechanical engineer’s role is to conduct technical investigations into the origin and cause of incidents involving building mechanical systems, vehicles damaged by fire, water, or mechanical failure, and the failure of electric vehicles. They also perform inspections and gather observations to determine the cause of the incident, whether involving internal combustion or electric vehicles, heavy machinery, or agricultural equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct technical investigations into the origin and cause of incidents involving vehicles damaged by fire, water, or mechanical failure;
- Gather data and make observations to determine the cause of the incident, whether involving a vehicle, heavy machinery, or agricultural equipment;
- Explain the process leading to findings and conclusions, communicating them both verbally and in writing;
- Travel throughout Quebec (and occasionally outside the province) to determine the origin and cause of incidents;
- Serve as an expert witness in court proceedings when required;
- Participate in promotional activities and maintain the company’s professional network with ease.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline;
- Member of a professional order in Quebec;
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in French;
- Aptitude for and interest in technical and hands-on work;
- Experience in the insurance, legal, or post-loss restoration sectors (an asset);
- Availability for training in Canada and the United States, as well as for technical knowledge sharing among experts;
- Good command of spoken and written English (an asset);
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for work-related travel, with sufficient cargo space to transport specimens and inspection equipment.

- 35 hours per week, flexible schedule;
